Carved in Oak: A New Angel for Christ Church

From the oak tree that stood in our front yard for nearly 140 years, two beautiful angels have been carved and now remain with us. One angel faces the seaside, while the other—clearly St. Michael—faces the church.

When the oak finally reached a point where it needed to be taken down, the option to carve it allowed us to keep its heart with us in artistry. What once stood as a familiar part of our grounds now continues to speak in a new and meaningful way.

These carvings invite us to pause and notice the holy in what might otherwise seem ordinary, reminding us to look more closely at the gifts already among us.
